Prerequisites: ENGL 111 English Composition I and GPA of 3.5 or permission of the instructor. Speech is a "hands-on" course in which students learn public speaking by preparing and delivering oral presentations. The course emphasizes selecting, researching, and organizing good material for speeches; developing effective presentation skills; and critically analyzing rhetorical theory and devices. It helps students enhance their speeches using visual aids and other presentation technology effectively. The course also helps students develop strategies for managing anxiety about public speaking.
